I just wondering why the problem of installing CUCM (Linux Appliance) on regular PC still not solved by anyone? It's not so complicated (it is just linux). I've completed this task from zero to final result in less than 2 days. How much time has elapsed since writing the last post in that blog? :). Of course, there are still unresolved problems, for example, VMware-Tools which is completely unnecessary...
The result of the installation CUCM8 on the Lenovo Notebook is as follows:
Now I realize which is possible (and easy):
- Creation from any nonbootable CUCM ISO image bootable.
- Solve the problem of HW policy check and HW legacy validation by simple changes in scripts.
- Prepare customized CUCM Bootable DVD with enabled root account and predefined Root password.
Thanks for your attention and sorry for my English.

Can I use CUCM 7 on Ubuntu 11
Dear Anonymous,
If you want to install CUCM 7 as just additional packet on Ubuntu 11 - I think, it's not possible or it's a lot of work for Linux guru. In my opinion, CUCM was originally designed for rpm-based linux, not for deb-based.
For the lab environment, you can install VMware server on already existing Ubuntu 11 and then create VM for CUCM 7.
There is another way for the "Geeks" - install CUCM 7 on any regular PC with enough DRAM and HDD size. This is a subject for that post. But once again, CUCM is a rpm-based distro (RHEL) with additional scripts and packets.
Hello, is there a way to know which script needs to be updated to work on intel based and/or virtualbox ??
Thx !
Hello. Can you please give us more detail on how did you manage to do that? I want to install CUCM 7 on a regular pc for my labs. I have this version installed in Vmware but I'm not satisfied with the performance and I also have an older pc laying around. Thank you for your help.
